Learn more about the history of the Angler’s Hotel Miami Beach
Located in the heart of South Beach, Angler’s Hotel Miami Beach is a historic boutique address blending Mediterranean Colonial architecture and contemporary design. Built in 1931 and carefully restored over the years, the hotel reflects the rich heritage and vibrant energy of Miami Beach.
South Beach
A legendary neighborhood with white sandy beaches, Art Deco architecture, and a festive atmosphere
South Beach, often referred to as “SoBe”, is one of Miami's most iconic neighborhoods. Located at the southern tip of Miami Beach, this legendary neighborhood has undergone a spectacular transformation from a quiet seaside destination to a global icon of style, architecture, and culture.
In the early 20th century, the first real estate developers began constructing buildings and hotels to turn SoBe into an exceptional seaside destination. The neighborhood grew rapidly, attracting visitors with its white sand beaches and tropical climate.
After the devastating hurricane of 1926, SoBe underwent a major reconstruction phase and adopted a bold architectural style: Art Deco, influenced by the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. South Beach became a pioneer in adopting this new Art Deco aesthetic, attracting architects and developers from around the world.
After a more difficult period in the 1970s, the neighborhood experienced a cultural and artistic renaissance and was gradually renovated. It once again became the symbol of glamorous Miami Beach, with its historical heritage, artistic atmosphere, and festive ambiance.
Today, SoBe embodies a subtle balance between history, glamour, and modernity. With its legendary beaches, iconic avenues such as Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, and Collins Avenue, and vibrant cultural scene, the neighborhood continues to attract travelers from around the world in search of elegance, sunshine, and unforgettable experiences.
Angler’s Hotel Miami Beach
An iconic boutique hotel in the SoBe, Miami Beach
The Angler’s Hotel Miami Beach is one of the historic hotels in “SoBe” district of Miami. The original building dates back to 1931 and was constructed in a Mediterranean Colonial style, characteristic of the architectural landscape of South Beach in the early 20th century, with subtle period details reflecting the era.
In its early days, the establishment was a charming boutique hotel in the heart of South Beach, offering an intimate experience away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside while remaining close to the beaches and the neighborhood's main attractions.
Starting in the 2000s, the building's original design was restored and adapted, with a major renovation in 2007 that modernized the spaces while respecting the historic style of the place.
Between 2014 and 2018, the hotel underwent a major transformation with the construction of a new building designed in a Contemporary architectural style with Art Deco influences. This expansion nearly doubled its capacity, adding 85 new rooms and bringing the total to 132 rooms, along with new amenities such as a rooftop pool, lounges, and event spaces.
In 2025, the Angler's Hotel Miami Beach was acquired by Saint-Louis Hotels, a group of Parisian boutique hotels. This acquisition marks a key step in the group's development and in the hotel's history.
